Ashelia: Chapter 7: Corvin Adonis

During the battle of Eorzea five years ago.....

In another country far far away from Eorzea was a island country called Norvask. The island country of Norvask was split into two different regions, Shadelin to the north and Rosewood to the south. The northern half was home to the Drows. The Drows were vicious elezens who liked the dark cold dreary weather. They kept far away from their counterpart region due to their warm sunny weather. Also because the southern region was also home to well known arcanist users. And the drows feared magic more than anything. To the southern region of Norvask was Rosewood which was inhabited by Hyurs and Miqo'tes. They lived and thrived in peace. Even though they were farmers they also practiced in arcanum. The Adonis family was well known for their arcanum powers. Jonesy Adonis and Sivriel Adonis often taught arcanum to the other villagers for anyone that wanted to learn in the arts. Corvin Adonis the oldest child of Jonesy and Sivriel looked up to his mother and father and hoped to one day be a powerful arcanist like they are. Even though they were famous arcanum users not everyone liked the Adonis family. Hearing about the growing magic use the drows became worried and felt threatened by these powerful arcanum users. And realized that they had to put a stop to the magic use or they be overthrown very easily. Astaroth realizing how powerful rosewood was becoming. He met before the drow king and told them what was happening. After hearing the underlying threat the king ordered Astaroth to send out his army to destroy any arcanum books found and anyone that practiced it to be executed. Astaroth kneeled before his king and called upon his army and they set out towards Rosewood to set out their evil plan. That night they ended up attacking the outer region of rosewood. The drows raided every farm and village they came across in search of arcanum items. They burned down homes, farms, arcanum books. Anything they felt like destroying because they were ruthless cold-hearted creatures. Anyone that refused or stood up to the drows was tortured or murdered in front of their friends and family. After hearing the news of the first area of rosewood being taken over he realized his family was endangered. Jonesy decided to teach his children to learn how to defend themselves with arcanum in case the drows came to harm them. Jonesy walks outside from the house and sees Corvin and Ophelia doing farm work in the fields and calls out to them.



Jonesy: Corvin! Ophelia!


Corvin and ophelia both stop what they are doing and look up towards their father.


Jonesy: Can you meet me in the basement please. It's important.


Jonesy walks back into the house and disappears inside. Concerned about what their father wants to tell them they both put down their farm tools and run back towards the house and go inside. They make their way towards the stairs in the basement and see that it's dark but is lit up by candles around the room. Jonesy was sitting in a chair and he slowly got up from his chair once his children were standing before him.


Jonesy: Corvin......Ophelia. There has been word that the drows have heard about the growing use of arcanum and have invaded Rosewood to destroy all arcanum items. Many people have been captured or killed in cold blood in order to protect their families. If word gets out about us being famous arcanum users then more than likely they will come to find us. Until then, we will teach you both some arcanum spells to defend yourselves. The drows fear arcanum magic more than anything. So they will do whatever they can to put a stop to use using our magic. So until then we will teach you the basics. Over a course of 1 week Jonesy and Sivriel taught their children to to fight with arcanist magic. Even though they still had alot to learn they got fairly powerful which really boosted Corvin's self confidence because he felt he could protect his family. But Corvin's life changed forever. Astaroth's army was closing in on the area of Rosewood where Corvin's family lived. One of their local villagers confessed to Astaroth about the Adonis family and how they practiced arcanum magic in secret to remain un-detechable to the drows. He moved his army towards the Adonis farm while a portion of his army stayed behind to round up the villagers and that were still alive and kept them as the king's slaves. The drows closed in on the Adonis home. Sitting at table while Sivriel was serving dinner to Jonesy and her children. As they were eating their meal the drows stormed into the house capturing the family members placing burlap bags over their heads and dragging them from the house to the barn kicking and screaming while dragging their bodies across the field.

Corvin: Put me down you monster! Mom! Dad! Somebody help!


Upon reaching the barn the drows forced the family members into a kneeling position while binding their hands together with a enchanted anti magic use rope. This prevented them from conjuring spells and if they tried to break free the rope would get tighter. The drow soldiers pulled off the burlap bags off their heads so they could look at Astaroth while he was speaking to them and they could look at each other.


Ophelia: Mommy....Daddy...I'm scared.


Siviriel turned to her frighten daughter and smiled at her trying to keep her calm.


Sivriel: Don't worry sweetie. Everything is going to be okay.


One of the drow soldiers takes out a dagger and puts it near Corvin and Ophelia's faces. They start screaming in fear. Jonesy angrily turns to Astaroth who is now standing before them.


Astaroth: Enough! Put that dagger away soldier! Let me handle them.


The drow soldier puts his dagger up and walks away from the group.


Jonesy: Don't harm them. There just children. They don't know anything.
Astaroth: If you want to live, then tell us where you are hiding your arcanum books and other items. We know you are famous arcanists. If you tell us where the items are we will not harm your family.


Jonesy looked at his family in desperation and then back at Astaroth.


Jonesy: There in the cellar. You can destroy them all just spare me and my family. We will refuse to continue using arcanum magic and just become farmers.


Astaroth: Sure. I will spare their lives. Just beg for forgiveness.


The adonis family looks at each other confused and then back at Astaroth. The drows come back up carrying 12 dozen piles of arcanum books and other arcanum items. They put them all in one pile and lit them on fire near the family. The family started begging for mercy and sins but despite their pleas Astaroth had no intention of sparing them. Astaroth pulled out his long silver sword from it's sheath and in one fatal swing he decapitates Jonesy and Sivriel's heads right in front of Corvin and Ophelia. Their bodies fell over immediately and their heads rolled off towards Astaroth's feet and he kicked their heads as if it was a ball and the drows began laughing. Ophelia faints from the site. After seeing his parents murdered right in front of him Corvin's anger began building and he screamed in a high pitched tone.


Corvin: Noooooooooooo!


He tried to fight by breaking his rope bindings but the more he struggled the tighter the rope became.


Astaroth: Throw the bodies into the fire and destory the house and farm. We leave nothing behind!


Drow Soldier: Sir! What about the children?


Astaroth: Bring the children. They will make perfect slaves for the king.
As corvin was struggling to break free he watched the drows throw the bodies of his mother and father into the fire and watched and they burned to ashes in the flames. Tears rolled down his faces as he continued to struggle to break free. He knew unless he broke free Corvin and his sister were in danger.


Suddenly one of the drows soldiers grabbed the young teen by his bindings and tried to force him to walk but he struggled with the drow soldier and tried to fight him despite the bindings still being around his wrists. He was putting up a fight.


Drow Soldier: Come on boy, stop struggling.


But Corvin refused to give up! Not without a fight! Corvin opened up his mouth to show his shiny white fangs and bit down on the drow soldier's hand. Realizing Corvin could harm himself he hits Corvin over the head causing him to be unconsious.


The next morning, Corvin wakes up to find himself laying on what apppeared to be a stone floor. It was cold and dark. His head felt like it was spinning on his body. As he slowly pulled himself into a sitting position he looked around his surroundings and realized he was in a dungeon. As he got closer to the bar doors he realized he could see the other males that were also captured as prisoners in the other cells around him. Realizing what transpired, Corvin started freaking out and began shaking the bar door that held him captive. The other prisoners tried to calm down Corvin so he would stop making alot of noise but he didn't listen to them. He wanted out! Hearing the commotion downstairs, two drow soldiers come barreling down the stairs towards Corvin's cell.


Drow 1: Hey you! Be quiet slave! Astaroth is sleeping!


Corvin: I don't fucking care about Astaroth! Let me out! Or I will fucking kill you!


The two drow soldiers come into the cell with Corvin and started punching him repeatedly causing him to land on the cold stone floor of his cell. One of the drows grabbed Corvin from behind while the other drow pulled out a whip and started whipping him. The drow solier was whipping Corvin so hard and brutally that his shirt was stained red with his own blood. Corvin tried to force himself to stand but his body was so weak.


Corvin: Where is my sister? I want my sister. Ophelia...


Drow soldier 1: She is in another dungeon with all of the other women and younger girls.


Corvin: I need to see her! I need my sister!


Drow Soldier 2: Sorry kid, she belongs to the king now. You will never see her again. So just behave like the good little slave that you are and shut the hell up!


Corvin: I will never belong to your king!


One of the drow soldiers leaves the cell for a minute and returns with a iron rod and hands it to the other soldier. At the very end of the rod it appeared red and had what appeared to be a Drow symbol. The other drow soldier takes the iron rod and places it against corvin's right shoulder blade causing him to scream from it burning his skin. He was in so much pain and agony. His body was in so much distress he blacked out.


Now in the present time it's been 1 year since Corvin's parents were killed and he became a slave to the Drows.


On the day of the anniversary since Corvin's enslavement He was doing slavework for the drows. He was on his hands and knees scrubbing the stone floor with his cut up hands that were wrapped in blood stained bandages. He had what appeared to be a long sleeved white ruffled shirt. As he was scrubbing the floors he heard noises coming from down the hall and it was drawing closer. Fearing it was a drow he started scrubbing harder to make it look like he was working. He look up and sees another male miqo'te. He appeared much older in age. He seemed to be walking around freely as but was acting a bit paranoid.


Corvin: Are you okay?


Shadow Seawolf: I'm trying to escape from this shit hole. Do you know your way around here?


Corvin's eyes lit up and he walked over to Shadow.


Corvin: Please take me with you. I can help you escape from here. Please just take me and my sister with you. I can't leave here without her. You have to help me Shadow.


Shadow: Alright! Let's find your sister and get the hell out of here. Where is she located at?


Corvin: She is in the dungeon where they keep the women and children at. Her name is Ophelia Adonis.


Shadow's eyes grew big when he heard the name. He turned back to Corvin.


Shadow: Your Jonesy's boy? Fine, the scores are settled. Let's find your sister.


As they began searching around for the dungeon where they kept the women and children Wod had gotten out Shadow and Corvin were attempting to break out of the castle and escape. Astaroth and his men search high and low in the castle to find the pair and prevent them from leaving. As they reached a certain floor they located Corvin and Sahdow hiding behind a stone pillar.


Astaroth: There they are! Capture them!


Shadow: Shit, we have been found out. Sorry kid but were gonna have to come back for your sister. This is becoming way too dangerous.


Corvin: No! I can't leave my sister behind.


Shadow: At this point you have no choice! There is only two of us and hundreds of them. Why do this for nothing and be killed when you can leave, train and get strong and come back and save your sister. Don't worry. We will come back for her. But for now we must escape!


The drows slowly start coming towards the pillar Corvin and Shadow are hiding behind and the duo makes a run for it. The drows give chase after them.


Corvin: How are we going to get out of here now? There is too many of them like you said.


Shadow: Don't worry. I have a plan. I overheard them talking about a cargo ship that is docked outside the castle. If we can reach the cargo ship and cut the ropes. We can take over the ship and escape.


Corvin: That is a brilliant idea! Let's do it!


The duo managed to escape out the front of the castle as the drows were still chasing after them and made their way towards the dock where the cargo ship was located at.


Shadow: Go ahead on board. I'll stall them.


Corvin: Got it!


As corvin boarded the ship he realized the ship was being worked by hyurs. He knew they would be safe aboard the ship. Shadow watched Corvin board the ship and he turned to face the drows as the were running closer. But as he looked more closely he realized the squad got much larger. He realized he didn't stand a chance. He turned around and started running as fast as he could towards the ship while hollering.


Shadow: Nope nope nope nope!!!


Shadow runs up to the cargo ship and begins climbing up the rope, the drows are right behind him on his tail.


Shadow: Corvin cut the rope! Quickly!

The drows also begin climbing up the rope to hoping to keep Corvin and Shadow from escaping. Corvin began cutting the other rope holding the ship in port. When Shadow reached the top of the ship he took out his axe and cut the rope. Once all the ropes were cut the drows lost their grips and all fell into the sea and the ship left the dock setting out on it's voyage towards their journey. Realizing they were victorious Shadow started jumping up and down and let out a cheer but stopped short when he saw Corvin standing there as if his mind was wandering. Corvin felt like he had no reason to celebrate. He was able to escape but was unable to free his sister. He let out a sigh and his ears drooped. Shadow walked over to Corvin and placed his hand on his left shoulder.


Shadow: Once we get you stronger and we find enough people we will come back and free your sister. In the meantime they won't harm her. They need to keep her alive in order to continue to use her as their slave. We have to formulate a plan and figure out where we are headed. Once we do we can plan from there.


Corvin: Should we ask the crew? I'm sure they would know?


Shadow: I'll ask. Be right back.


Shadow gets up from their sitting spot and walks over to the ship crew members. As Corvin watches Shadow walk over he turns back and watches the island disappear over the horizon. Leaving his past, his home, and his beloved sister behind.


Corvin: Don't worry Ophelia. Once I grow stronger I will come back to free you. Wait for me.


Shadow comes walking back over to Corvin and sits back next to him.


Shadow: Were headed for a country called Eorzea. But were docking in a city in Eorzea called Limsa Lominsa. They teach Arcanum there.


Corvin: Once we dock there I will register myself into the arcanist guild. Once I grow stronger I will come back and destroy the drows and free Ophelia.


Shadow: Son, I know you want to help your sister  but until you get stronger and you have multiple people with you, you won't be able to face them alone. You won't stand a chance. Do you want to end up like your parents did? Unless she dies on them you have plenty of time to grow stronger. They will do whatever they can to keep her alive. So until that time comes we need to focus on getting stronger.


Corvin: But what are we going to do about food and shelter? I don't have any money.


Shadow: Don't worry I got that covered.


Shadow pulls out a huge back of Norvaskian currency.


Shadow: I stole this before we escaped.  There is alot in here so I am sure we will be good on money for a while.


Corvin: That is good. I'm excited I hope we get to Eorzea.


Shadow and Corvin go down into the cargo compartment and fall asleep on top of a sack of potatoes. The next morning, Corvin wakes up to the sun shining through a small window and he could hear seagulls chirping in the distance. He peers through the small window and sees they were docked in Limsa Lominsa. He became excited and quickly tries to wake up Shadow who was asleep next to him.


Corvin: Shadow! Wake up! Wake up! Shadow were in Limsa.


Shadow slowly opens his eyes and jumps to look out the window and realized they were docked.


Shadow: Great! Now let's get off this ship and register you at the arcanist guild.


Shadow and Corvin left the cargo ship behind and headed up the lower docks to register at the adventurers guild and the arcanum guild. As Corvin was walking along the wooden walk ways checking out the sites he accidently bumps into someone knocking him to the group along with his share of the stolen Norvaskian money. Trying to maintain his composure and embarrassing mistake Corvin and the other stranger were picking up the money when the stranger stops to observe the coin.


Corvin: I apologize miss, I wasn't paying any attention to where I was going.


Ashelia: Whoa!! I've never seen currency like this before. You're not from around here are you?


He looked up towards the voice that was standing over him saw a beautiful female miqo'te. She had violet blue hair and bright blue eyes. He became shocked and speechless by her beauty that he started stuttering.


Corvin: I'm sorry. Yes I am not from around here. Do you mind telling me where the adventurer's guild is so I can sign up and exchange this for gil?


Ashelia: Oh the adventurer's guild? I'm not entirely sure myself either since I don't live in Limsa. I'm here on business with my friends here. But if you ask one of the local natives around here 'm sure they could point you in the right direction.


He looks past her to see two male miqo'tes standing behind her.


Ashelia: Please excuse my rudeness. My name's Ashelia. Ashelia Dantas. What is your name?


Corvin: Corvin, miss. Corvin Adonis. It's a pleasure to meet you.


He bows before her and smiles back at her.


Corvin: Likewise. I hope to see you again.


She waves goodbye to him and then walks off with her two friends following behind her.


Kol: Wow, did you see how much money he had?


Mateos: Maybe he robbed someone and escaped where ever he came from so he couldn't be caught.


Ashelia: Stop making accusations you guys. That is mean.


Corvin continued to watch Ashelia walk away as if he was trapped in a fog. Shadow grins and walks over to Corvin placing his hand on his shoulder.


Shadow: Come on lover boy. Let's go. I'm sure you will see that lass again.


Corvin: I sure hope so. Something tells me she will become of great importance in my life. I really hope I will see her again.
